I walked into the coffee shop, and from behind the counter I was greeted by a 12-year-old boy working the register. He asked all the right questions, hot or iced, type of milk—definitely on his game. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such a youth handling the money. I asked if he drank coffee. He winced and said, “A little,” to which, I replied, “Good, take it slow. You got plenty of time.” He said “Thank you.”
